GPL-3.0
Video generation
What it does
Rather than a one-shot swap, this trains a model on many images of both faces and improves the longer you run it - which means a capable GPU and often hours or days of training before results look natural. Command-line based, aimed at people doing serious video work or studying the technique. Using someone's face without their informed consent, and publishing the result, can amount to defamation or a violation of personality rights, with sexual content or impersonation for financial gain treated far more seriously. Use your own material, or material you have clear permission for.
Summary based on the project's own description. The Japanese page has a fuller beginner guide: setup difficulty, what to prepare, and a step-by-step start.

Before you use someone else's face or voice
Recreating a person's face or voice without their informed consent, and publishing material that shows them saying or doing something they did not, can amount to defamation or a violation of personality and publicity rights, with civil and criminal consequences. Sexual content, or impersonation for financial gain, is treated far more seriously. Work only with your own likeness, or with material where the person has agreed to both the content and where it will appear. Running the tool locally protects your data - it does not make publishing the result lawful.
faceswap FAQ
- Is faceswap free?
- Yes. It runs on your own machine, so there is no usage-based cost either.
- Do I need to install anything or write code to use faceswap?
- It needs the command line. If you are not comfortable typing commands, expect to get stuck during setup.
- Does faceswap work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.
- Can I use faceswap commercially?
- The licence is GPL-3.0. Using it commercially is fine, but if you distribute something built on it you may be required to release that under the same licence. Keep it internal, or check before distributing.
