note-gen
Dump fragments now, let AI organise them into notes later

Writing & notes
What it does
Removes the need to pick a title and folder before saving something: text, voice recordings, screenshots, images and links all go straight into a capture list. Later you select the fragments that belong together and the AI shapes them into a structured Markdown note that you can edit and extend. Notes are stored locally in Markdown. Capturing needs no API key; the organising step sends content to whichever AI service you configure, so pick a local model if that matters.

note-gen FAQ
- Is note-gen free?
- note-gen itself is free, but it needs an API key for an external AI service. That service charges separately, though some have a free tier.
- Do I need to install anything or write code to use note-gen?
- You install it like a normal desktop app. No command line involved.
- Does note-gen work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.
- Can I use note-gen commercially?
- The licence is GPL-3.0. Using it commercially is fine, but if you distribute something built on it you may be required to release that under the same licence. Keep it internal, or check before distributing.
