Meetings & transcription
What it does
Records, transcribes and summarises meetings so you can keep working through the call and still catch what mattered, with transcription running on local Whisper models so audio stays on your machine, and a history of previous meetings. Get participants' consent before recording, check decisions and figures against the transcript rather than the summary, and note the project has not been updated since February 2026.
Summary based on the project's own description. The Japanese page has a fuller beginner guide: setup difficulty, what to prepare, and a step-by-step start.

Recap FAQ
- Is Recap free?
- Recap itself is free, but it needs an API key for an external AI service. That service charges separately, though some have a free tier.
- Do I need to install anything or write code to use Recap?
- You install it like a normal desktop app. No command line involved.
- Does Recap work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.
- Can I use Recap commercially?
- The licence is MIT, which permits commercial use. Conditions such as keeping the copyright notice still apply, so read the licence text before shipping it inside something.
