Meetings & transcription
What it does
Hold the hotkey, speak, release, and the text appears at your cursor — transcribed locally at a claimed 9–11× realtime on a plain CPU, with punctuation and capitalisation handled. Eight engines to choose from, GPU paths for AMD and NVIDIA if you have them, and no cloud, subscription or telemetry. Linux only. Those speed figures come from the developer's hardware, and engine accuracy varies a lot by language, so try yours before committing. MIT.

voxtype FAQ
- Is voxtype free?
- Yes. It runs on your own machine, so there is no usage-based cost either.
- Do I need to install anything or write code to use voxtype?
- It needs the command line. If you are not comfortable typing commands, expect to get stuck during setup.
- Does voxtype work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.
- Can voxtype run offline?
- Yes. Everything happens on your own machine, so your data is never sent to an outside server. That makes it usable for material you cannot share externally.
- Can I use voxtype commercially?
- The licence is MIT, which permits commercial use. Conditions such as keeping the copyright notice still apply, so read the licence text before shipping it inside something.
