What it does
Point it at your site's URL and it ingests the content, then answers visitor questions from what it found - opening hours, returns policy and the rest - as an embeddable chat widget with periodic re-training. Answers can be wrong, so anything with contractual or pricing consequences needs a human check behind it. Visitor questions reach both the operator and the AI provider. Self-hosting is a Docker-level task, and the project has not been updated since January 2026.
Summary based on the project's own description. The Japanese page has a fuller beginner guide: setup difficulty, what to prepare, and a step-by-step start.

webwhiz FAQ
- Is webwhiz free?
- webwhiz itself is free, but it needs an API key for an external AI service. That service charges separately, though some have a free tier.
- Do I need to install anything or write code to use webwhiz?
- You install it like a normal desktop app. No command line involved.
- Does webwhiz work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.
- Can I use webwhiz commercially?
- The licence is AGPL-3.0. Using it commercially is fine, but if you distribute something built on it you may be required to release that under the same licence. Keep it internal, or check before distributing.
