YomiNinja
Extract on-screen text so pop-up dictionaries can look it up (for language learners)

What it does
Reads text out of games, videos and images and overlays it on the original, so dictionary extensions such as 10ten or Yomichan can be used on words that would normally be locked inside a picture - the standard obstacle when studying a language from real material. A separate dictionary extension is required. It has not been updated since August 2025, accuracy drops on small or decorative type, and some games forbid overlays.

- You install it like a normal desktop app. No command line involved.
- Does YomiNinja work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.

- The licence is GPL-3.0. Using it commercially is fine, but if you distribute something built on it you may be required to release that under the same licence. Keep it internal, or check before distributing.
