Local voice cloning, read-aloud and audiobook studio for Apple Silicon Macs

Voice & audio
What it does
Clones a voice from roughly three seconds of reference audio, then reads text, PDFs, DOCX and EPUB aloud with sentence-level highlighting, or turns a whole document into an audiobook. Everything runs on the machine, so no audio is uploaded. The catch is licensing: the distributed binary is explicitly personal or internal-evaluation use only, with commercial use prohibited, and the stated terms disagree (README says BSL-1.1, the LICENSE file contains GPL-3.0). Apple Silicon only; Windows binaries are not yet shipped.

Before you use someone else's face or voice
Recreating a person's face or voice without their informed consent, and publishing material that shows them saying or doing something they did not, can amount to defamation or a violation of personality and publicity rights, with civil and criminal consequences. Sexual content, or impersonation for financial gain, is treated far more seriously. Work only with your own likeness, or with material where the person has agreed to both the content and where it will appear. Running the tool locally protects your data - it does not make publishing the result lawful.
MimikaStudio FAQ
- Is MimikaStudio free?
- Yes. It runs on your own machine, so there is no usage-based cost either.
- Do I need to install anything or write code to use MimikaStudio?
- You install it like a normal desktop app. No command line involved.
- Does MimikaStudio work on a phone?
- No. It needs a computer.
- Can I use MimikaStudio commercially?
- The licence is GPL-3.0. Using it commercially is fine, but if you distribute something built on it you may be required to release that under the same licence. Keep it internal, or check before distributing.

"Sends data out" means your input is uploaded to someone's server. Pick "No" when the material cannot leave your organisation.
